How The Internet Works
How The Internet Works
In Khan Academy’s Internet
Website there are so many things to learn about especially the internet. The
internet is something dynamic and it continues to change and improve as the
years go by and it has become so important worldwide that a lot of people in
the globe use the internet to connect with others and interact on social media.
The internet may be something easy to use but the way the internet works is
something more complex than what we the internet users think. The internet is a lot like a postal service
but instead of shipping boxes the internet ships binary information which is
made of bits and it’s a pair of opposites and since they are opposites that’s why
they are called binary.
Humans send information
from one place to another using electricity, lights, and radio waves. For
example if it’s from 1 to 0 or 1 to 0 the information will send. With bandwidth the transmission and capacity
is sent by the measured bitrate and the bitrate is the number of bits per
second the system can transmit. Then there is the latency, which is the time
the information or the bit takes to travel from the sender to the receiver. For
the internet to work good, and to send
bits long distances we use fiber optic cables that send the bits as light beams
and it bounces on the capable being able to be sent to the receiver and the
signal does not get interrupted.
When we send things
wireless, wireless servers use radio signals to send bits from one place to
another and they have to translate the 1’s and 0’s to radio waves of different frequencies
and they convert it back into binary when it reaches your computer. For instance
if we use the Wi-Fi at Starbucks the bits get sent to this wireless router and
then are sent to the physical wire to travel the long distances of the
internet. All in all when things are sent in the internet it comes down to 1’a
and 0’s and lights, cables, and servers, without all of this things will not be
able to send.
The Internet is something that is very unique it comes with its own style, its own rules, and its own everything. It is something that we humans use on a daily but it is something that is so much complex in the inside. Along with the internet comes cables, wires, and WiFi. It also comes with IP addresses and DNS including packets, routers and reliability. The internet is not something that was just created in a snap it has its own form of working through html and http. The internet also includes encryption and publication keys, and along with that good stuff comes cyber crimes and cyber security to keep the internet safe for everyone and to prevent the internet from being a harmful place.
